Chapter 22
Alessa managed one step towards the door before it imploded and slammed against the hallway wall. Theresa, Marcella, and Alessa strode into the centre of the living room and stared towards where the door hung off its hinges.
Two women stood still in the outer hall, glaring at them with flames dancing behind their eyes.
âJesus Christ,â Theresa muttered. âYou werenât kidding, Alessa. These bitches got our shit in their systems.â
Marcella stepped forwards just once. âYou do this to our friend in the bathroom?â
âSi. We did.â
The accent immediately assaulted Alessaâs ears. âYou are Italian?â Deliberately keeping her speech English meant she was asserting her dominance. She wouldnât allow them to think they might be in charge.
âSi. And so are you, Vittoria.â
If there had been any doubts as to who these women worked for, they didnât have any anymore. The Familia was behind this, and it made Alessaâs blood boil. âYou are on the wrong team, ladies. The Familia are corrupting you for their own devices. Surely you see that?â
âWe are here to take you with us, Vittoria. The other twoâwell, you can just go ahead and die." She flicked her wrist towards them. "And if you struggle then you can die too. They mainly want you punished.â
Marcella laughed. âSeriously, you think you can beat us?â
Alessa glanced at Marcellaâs face as she stepped alongside her, seeing anger building behind that mask of laughter, behind the beautiful smile that could have graced cat walks.
âWe can and we will. We have the serum just like you ladies. But we are younger and stronger. And there are more of us.â
âWellââ Marcella stepped forwards one slow step at a time ââI count three of us and just two of you. Are you not so good at counting, sweetie?â
The woman smiled. âOh, you think it is just the two of us? You are clearly a little stupid yourselfâsweetie.â
Alessa twisted to look at Theresa, who narrowed her eyes and pursed her lips. Marcella looked as ready as she ever did to kick some ass, but the overwhelming feeling that was coming to Alessa in waves was that they needed to actâfast.
So, she did.
Alessa ran at the two women in front of her, their eyes igniting with flames. They werenât hiding their status, but did they have the same talents as Marcella and Theresa or the improved ones that Alessa possessed? Vittoria and Gabriella before her were the only ones who could regenerate. So now, as she charged at them, Alessa wondered if they could heal too.
The closest woman readied and retaliated before Alessa reached her, but her speed was jarring and uncontrolled. The woman burst forwards, not expecting Alessa to move out of the way. Marcella, right on Alessaâs ass, surprise attacked, taking the woman down to the floor with a swift body slam and a roar from her lungs. Marcella was enraged, and the power coming off her filled Alessa with even more of her own.
The second woman in the hall had been joined by a third and a fourth.
